Team building restrictionsPlayers may use Pokémon from the Paldea Pokédex (not Kitakami or Blueberry), other than Restricted Pokémon.  All Pokémon must have the Paldea origin mark, or be capable of having it (Pokémon transferred from other games are okay, if they could have been acquired in Scarlet and Violet base game).

A full listing of the valid and invalid Pokémon from this regulation can be viewed here.

Players may not use moves that were not available for their Pokémon in Regulation C.  Any move learned by a TM in Scarlet and Violet after TM171 cannot be used unless it is in that Pokémon’s natural learnset.  A list of TMs in order can be found here.

Legality examples:
  • Chi-Yu, Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, and Ting-Lu are legal, as are the Paradox Pokémon.
  • Miraidon and Koraidon are not legal
  • Iron Jugulus could learn the move Roar, as it is in its learnset; but Roaring Moon cannot, as it learns it via TM172.
  • Roaring Moon could learn the move Scale Shot, as it is in its learnset; but Dragonite could not, as it learns it via TM200.
FAQ

Q: If I make a mistake and bring a Pokémon with a move that is illegal, will I be able to change it?

A: We will attempt to review all teams beforehand with an eye towards avoiding this.  However, it is your responsibility to follow the rules, and illegal moves found after the start of the tournament will be removed without replacement.
