How to Qualify

must have earned at least 50 Professor Points between June
1, 2015, and June 15, 2016. Please check your points total for this period before
registering.
Event Times
Check-in will be Thursday,
June 30, at 5 p.m. for solicited
staff and Friday and Saturday, July 1 and 2, at 5 p.m. for any other Professors who have
met the points requirement. The event will start as
soon as check-in is finished and will conclude on Sunday, July 3.
Deck Construction Rules
Decks will use Standard
construction rules with the following exceptions:
Your deck must contain
exactly 40 cards. Games will be played with 4 Prize cards.Only
Pokémon with a rarity of Common may be used. Raichu
and Wobbuffet, from the Radiant Collection subset of the Generations expansion, are not
allowed.Trainer cards with a rarity
of Uncommon may be used. (Except Lysandre’s Trump Card, of course—it’s banned
here just like everywhere else.)Special Energy cards
may not be
used.Black Star Promo cards may not be used.
Attack costs are flexible! You still need the same number of
Energy to use an attack, and if the attack shows multiple Energy symbols,
you’ll need a different type of Energy for each different symbol. For example, Quagsire‘s Landslide attack has an Energy
cost of one Water Energy and two Colorless Energy. However, you may pay with one Lightning Energy and two Fire Energy, or one Grass Energy and two Lightning Energy.
Important notes:
A fully charged system in
the Nintendo 3DS family will not be required, but may result in interesting
opportunities. Not having one of these systems will not necessarily exclude you
from said opportunities.Do not add cards to your
deck that you are not willing to see potentially dinged or damaged.
In-Game Rules
Each type of Energy provides
a mandatory effect when it is attached from your hand to one of your Pokémon.
You may want to take the following into account when deciding which Energy cards
to include in your deck:
Grass: Heal 20 damage from any Pokémon.
Fire: Discard a card from
your hand, then draw a card.
Water: Return a Pokémon from
the discard pile to its owner’s hand.
Lightning: Move a damage
counter from 1 Pokémon to another.
Psychic: Move an Energy from 1
of either player’s Pokémon to another of that player’s Pokémon.
Fighting: Put a damage
counter on any Pokémon.
Darkness: Switch 1 of either
player’s Benched Pokémon with that player’s Active Pokémon.
Metal: Prevent the next 20
damage that would be done to a Pokémon of your choice.
Fairy: Flip a coin. If heads,
choose a Special Condition. Your opponent’s Active Pokémon is now affected by
that condition.
In addition:
You may discard a card from
your hand to negate your opponent’s Energy effect for that turn. You may discard a card from
your hand plus a card from the top of your deck to steal your opponent’s Energy
effect for yourself. You must choose whether to
negate or steal an effect BEFORE any part of that effect takes place (for
example, you can’t wait to see whether your opponent flips heads after
attaching a Fairy Energy).
Players will be free to ask
questions during the event if something is unclear.
