Top 16 – Pokémon GO Great League Battles

The 8 players with the best results will advance to the Top 8.

Top 8 players can enter these rounds with two friends. You’ll work as a team to tackle each game and earn as many points as possible. Consider yourselves warned to make sure that there is a thorough breadth of Pokémon knowledge between the three of you. You’ll need it! Bear in mind that everyone on your team will need to be a current Pokémon Professor, with at least a Basic certification. This is the Professor Cup, after all! They don’t need to have participated in the tournament themselves, but they will need to join you on the online platform through which these rounds will be held. That platform is determined by the Organizers.

    Top 8 – Competitive Quizzing

You’ll be no stranger to Kahoot provided you’ve been attending our monthly Professor Webinars! There will be 4 standard rounds of Kahoot. For each round, each team must choose 1 team member to represent them. Then, there is 1 free-for-all bonus round with bonus points on offer. The 4 trainers whose teams score the highest will advance to the finals.

Want to try out a Kahoot in advance? Here’s an example from one of our earlier top cuts!

    Top 4 – Puzzle Grids

Each team will be given a wall of 16 clues. Your objective is to group them into 4 rows of 4 connected items. The Top 4 player themselves will be the one who interacts with the wall, but all three team members may confer as much as they like to correctly identify the one, perfect solution to each wall before the time runs out. Be careful – red herrings abound! You can earn points in two ways – correctly identifying groups of four, and also for correctly identifying why each group is connected. The 2 trainers whose teams score the highest will advance to the finals.

Want to try out a Puzzle Grid in advance? Here’s a simple practice grid!

The Final – The Triple Trial

The Final will bring together different quizzical formats for the players to test their mettle against. This time, the Final features three rounds, each with a different theme – Time, Language, and Music. The players will go head-to-head in separate rooms to see who can accumulate the most points and prove their mastery of Pokémon knowledge in each unique sphere!

Good luck to all Professors competing in the 2022 Summer Professor Cup Top 16! See you in the event Discord server at 6 p.m. UTC!
