PGO Format

Round time: In-game timer

Match format: Best-of-five

Team lists: Required

Rules:

Players will be separated into pods of 4-8 players.

Each player will receive a “Booster Pack” of 10 Pokémon TCG cards. These will be pre-selected and feature Pokémon available in Pokémon GO, and available under 850 CP. An emphasis will be placed on Pokémon readily available in the weeks before the event.

Players will then “draft” their team, choosing 1 card, and passing the rest to the player on their left, until each player has selected 10 Pokémon. Players may not reference their phone during the drafting process. Players will then write down their 10 Pokémon.

Players will have 30 minutes to prepare their team. They may make trades within Pokémon GO during this time, but cannot trade the cards they have drafted.

If a player drafts multiple of the same Pokémon, such as drafting 2 Pikachu cards, that player may have 2 Pikachu on their team.

Players will then have 2 additional minutes to write down their CP on the team sheet before round 1.

Players may not change their moves on their Pokémon after this.

Team Depletion

Beginning Round 2, and continuing each subsequent round, after you share your team sheet, you will need to take one of the cards you drafted and put it face down next to your match slip.

Once both players have placed a card down, both flip over their cards. These Pokémon will be crossed out from the team sheets. These Pokémon cannot be used again for the remainder of the rounds. A judge will collect these cards from each player at the start of the round.

Top Cut (Rochester Draft)

  • The Judge will collect all cards from each player after the final round.
  • Players will split into 2 pods of 4 (1,4,5,8 and 2,3,6,7 seeds if a top 8.)
  • Players will be seated in order of their Swiss placement.
  • A Judge will lay out 30 Pokémon for the players to choose from face up.
  • Top seed gets first pick and players will draft from the available cards until each player has 6 Pokémon.
  • Players will do a snake draft (1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1,1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1,1,2,3,4,4,3,2,1)
